Become A High Performer

Reach your goals and success sooner by performing at a higher frequency

TWT Newsletter #5

What does it mean to perform at a higher frequency?

My definition: a person who is at a higher frequency is experiencing higher levels of positive emotions such as joy, love, and gratitude - leading to a more positive and fulfilling life. Through this increased frequency they perform actions/tasks at a higher speed or rate at which they can achieve goals faster; though outputting a higher level of intensity, productivity, or efficiency.

When I was younger, this was something I strived for. I was obsessed with achieving more and operating at a higher frequency. It was to gain respect, due to my lack of self-confidence and worthiness that drove me to hustle and become a high performer in anything I deemed worthy of pursuing.

When the right mindset and systems are in place. I believe you too can be a high performer and achieve your goals and financial success sooner.

Here are the principles and things I’ve done that have worked for me.

Increase Your Speed Of Idea To Execution

The faster you can close the time gap between an idea and execution will determine your success. This is an overlooked concept that few understand. With the right discipline and level of mastery - you can reach the level of a high performer.

“Some people want it to happen. Some wish it would happen. Others make it happen.”

- Michael Jordan

Jordan knew that to be one of the greatest of all time, you need to put a process and practice in place. You need to take massive action and execute your ideas. He had an idea/dream and he went and made it happen.

With a similar mindset as Jordan and growing up as an introvert. I spent a lot of time alone, which made me extremely self-aware that my fear and procrastination devoured my thoughts. It halted my actions and always hindered my ability to execute promptly.

This was a very common theme. A big issue that I ignored for so long until I built an inner system. This system allowed me to short-circuit the feeling of fear and procrastination; overriding it to get things done.

The simple system was pure repetition of things that I did not want to do to train my mind to kill that inner voice. I would do things like when I say I would get out of bed, I would get out of bed immediately as if commanded. Another hack I used was the 5 second rule by Mel Robbins, she talks about it in her book called the 5 second rule. It’s a framework that simply explains how to count down from 5 to 1 and ignore your thoughts and feelings to focus on that single task - and just do it.

It sounds simple, yet there is power in its simplicity. I was training my mind, like how an owner trains a dog to sit.

I obsessed over improving my time of execution. I got good at it and applied it to my first real estate mentors' teachings. He taught us how to look for a specific deal - purchasing properties in a highly appreciating market with a big backyard to build new construction. This type of deal would cash flow well and build good equity. I took the idea and executed it. In less than two weeks of prospecting, I found a deal that fit my mentor's teaching. I acted quickly and closed the real estate deal within two weeks. This deal after one year would generate over half a million dollars in equity! That’s the power of taking an idea and immediately executing it.

Establish Systems And Habits

High performers understand great systems and habits will allow them to be more efficient, consistent, and focused in everything they pursue in life. It is a building block that provides structure and standards of processes.

Establishing systems and habits as a high performer will help you:

  • Increase your efficiency and productivity. By having a clear and consistent approach to your work, you can reduce wasted time and effort, allowing you to complete tasks more quickly and effectively. This can translate into higher income or producing/creating more value for others and yourself.

  • Ensure consistent performance over time. By developing routines and processes that work well for you, you can reduce the likelihood of making mistakes or experiencing setbacks that can impact your results/income. Consistent performance can also lead to better relationships with clients or customers, which can lead to more work and higher pay over time.

  • Help you stay focused on your goals and priorities. By establishing routines that align with your goals, you can avoid distractions and maintain a clear sense of purpose. This can help you make better decisions about how to spend your time and resources. Leading to increased performance and income by helping you prioritize the most important tasks and opportunities.

Establishing these systems in place, builds a foundation for achieving growth and success that's almost automatic. To further your systems, you should challenge your frameworks/systems in place on a quarterly or monthly basis. Systems that work for you are key to becoming a high performer.

You want to support positive behaviors with systems while eliminating negative ones when possible. Be aggressively patient and recognize that even a small improvement can lead to you achieving bigger goals. With the right system and mindset, you will reach your highest potential.

Building Long Term Relationships

Learning to befriend the people you meet and work with can become one of the best skills you can learn. When I was working in the tech industry, I always made a few long-term friends at each job I had. My mindset is that if we are going to spend more than half our day together; we might as well make it enjoyable, learn, and laugh together.

At every job I’ve always made 2-3+ good friends. Not intentionally I realized the power of relationships through the people I met in my early career. It helped me understand team dynamics, culture, logistics as well as politics within a company. As well as allowed me to get new job offers that helped me double my income every few years. There is power in referrals, remember that.

Furthermore, high performers know the power of strong relationships. They understand they can learn and do everything, but should not. They network and find other high performers who are great or better at things than they are, so when a problem arises, they leverage the relationships they've built.

Have Extreme Ownership

Last, but one of the most important laws I’ve discovered about the world is to have extreme ownership. As an owner, having skin in the game; makes you more accountable. The more responsibility you take on as well as what has your name on it will directly equate to the amount of success and money you’ll receive. This is because of the results/value you produce by taking on more under your name. This includes people and systems that work under you. They are a part of your name as well.

High performers know that everything you say and do is stamped with your brand and reputation (in some way or form). So become more accountable for your words and actions. This in turn will have the world give you more. To become a high performer, develop a strong sense of ownership in everything you do, and become a person worthy of receiving much more.

I hope you apply these principles into your actions. Remember to become more self-aware and intentional with yourself. Operate and surround yourself with people at a higher frequency. Repetition is king and taking actions on these principles and processes will have you become a high performer. It won’t be a question of how, but when. This in turn will get you to your goals faster.

That’s a wrap:

  • Increase your speed of idea to execution

  • Establish systems and habits

  • Build long term relationships

  • Have extreme ownership
